The “Hey Woman” series addresses Gender based violence in all its forms.

“Hey Woman” creatively addresses the various distressing thoughts that cripple a woman’s mind in the face of abuse and oppression. It is an anthem of encouragement and unity among women and men.

What is Gender Based Violence

Gender Based Violence can be defined as any act that causes physical, sexual or emotional harm and reinforces gender inequality.

"It is estimated that 736 million women have experienced physical or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime".

Violence against women and girls, was already a pervasive problem before 2020.

It surged in the wake of covid-19 with many women having reported feeling more unsafe since the start of the pandemic.

Nearly 7 in 10 women ( 68 percent) say that verbal or physical abuse by a partner has become more common and 1 in 4 women describes more frequent household conflicts.

Over the past year, nearly 1 in 10 women aged 15+( 9.9 percent) have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by a partner.

For women between the ages of 15 and 49, that figure jumps to 12.5 percent.

On a global average, a woman or girl is killed by someone in her own family every 11 minutes.
